'cause there's a hunger, a longing to escape,

Kaine awoke to the sound of his alarm buzzing away near his head. Groaning, he tried to switch it off, without opening up his eyes. It didn’t go as well as he had planned, because the next noise he heard was his alarm clock falling onto the hardwood flooring with a loud bang. He opened his eyes, amazed that he could still hear the now somewhat faint buzzing of his alarm still. Groaning, Kaine rolled to the edge of the bed and grabbed the clock, shutting off the annoying buzzing sound. Kaine rolled over onto his back, staring up at the ceiling of his bedroom. He groaned again, not wanting to get up at all. Kaine hated mornings. Especially being a bouncer at the local club, Kaine usually didn’t drag his ass into his apartment until about three in the morning. ‘Why do I ever set this stupid thing?’ Kaine thought to himself, looking over at the alarm clock. It was pretty dinged up, from him repeatedly smashing it onto the ground like what had happened this morning. Sighing, Kaine lifted a hand and splayed his fingers, pushing them through his hair. He might as well get up now; there was no use in trying to get back to sleep. Sitting upright, Kaine swung his legs over the edge of the bed, untangling them from the sheets. He then put his bare feet on the floor and cringed. He made a mental note to get a carpet in here so that he wouldn’t have to feel the cold floor every morning and cringe about it. Standing up in just his boxers, Kaine stretched, lifting his arms way over his head. The clock read eleven in the morning. Kaine huffed and then turned, disappearing into the bathroom for a moment. He then returned, and headed over to his closet. He pulled on some jeans and a t-shirt, and some socks. Once that deed was done, he made his way into the kitchen, directly towards the coffee maker. He plugged it in and added some coffee grinds to the right compartment. Once that was done, Kaine folded his arms and leaned against the counter, waiting for the machine to finish making his coffee. He was an impatient guy, and within a few moments, he was making his way into the living room. He turned on the TV, sitting on the arm of the couch and flipping through the channels. He didn’t find anything particularly interesting; most of what was on was talk shows right now. Turning off the TV, Kaine tossed the remote aside and went to check on his coffee. It was just finishing up, he could tell by how good it was starting to smell. Grabbing a large mug from the nearby cupboard, Kaine poured out the coffee when it was done, watching as steam rolled out from the maker into the cup. When the mug was as full as he wanted it, almost right up to the lip, Kaine put the coffee container back down and then he grabbed the mug, carrying it to the island in his kitchen. He then sat down on a bar stool directly in front of the mug, his light blue eyes looking out the window straight ahead. Kaine could already tell that it was going to be a nice day out. The sun was up and shining, and there wasn’t a cloud in the blue sky. He figured that because it was so nice, he should probably not spend the whole day inside his apartment, mopping around until his shift started later on in the evening. Sipping on his coffee, Kaine thought of what he could do today. He didn’t have any laundry to do, or grocery shopping, since he had done those terrible chores yesterday. His apartment wasn’t that messy looking, and even if it was, he probably wouldn’t be up to cleaning it. Kaine only cleaned his apartment if he knew he would be bringing someone back to it. Frowning at how pathetic he sounded at the moment, Kaine sipped on his coffee until it was done. He didn’t mind the fact that it scalded his tongue and the back of his throat, he needed coffee in the mornings. And the sooner the better, because then his mood wouldn’t turn as foul as it did without caffeine in his system. When he was finished with the mug, Kaine rinsed it out in the sink and then placed it on the counter. Kaine usually made an effort to get to the gym about five days a week, and since it was Saturday, Kaine figured that the gym would be fairly quiet at this time. Going back to his bedroom, Kaine quickly rummaged around, finding some work out shorts, a work out t-shirt and shoved them into a duffle bag that he usually brought to the gym with him. He also tossed in his iPod, deodorant and cologne. He also tossed in clean boxers and socks, since he would just shower there at the gym, instead of driving in his truck all sweaty and uncomfortable. Zipping the duffle bag closed, Kaine then shouldered it and walked out of the bedroom. He put the duffle bag down in the living room and then quickly grabbed himself an apple. He ate it standing up, at the counter, and when he was finished he tossed the core into the garbage. With that done, he went into the bathroom and brushed his teeth quickly. After his pearly whites were all cleaned, Kaine then walked back into the living room. He grabbed his runners that had been discarded near the couch a few days ago, and quickly slid them onto his feet. He then picked up the duffle bag, shouldered the strap and grabbed his wallet, keys and cell phone from the island in the kitchen. He put his wallet and cell in the duffle bag and then walked out of his lonely, quiet apartment. Who knew what Kaine would do after working out, but he didn’t plan on having to come back to his quiet apartment until he needed to get ready for work. And even then, he had the stuff that he needed to get ready with – it wasn’t like Kaine dressed up to be a bouncer. Jeans and a t-shirt, and when it got cold outside he would throw on a hoodie and a jacket. But it was still relatively mild around here, and he was pretty sure that he had a jacket in his truck somewhere if the weather decided to turn on him. Kaine has been considering getting a dog for a little while now. He’d like something mean looking, like a Boxer or Rottweiler. But the dog would have to be professionally trained, considering Kaine didn’t have that much consistent time to spend training a dog good manners. He had quite a bit of money saved up, considering he hadn’t bought anything in quite a while. Sure a few jeans here and there, but other than that, Kaine wasn’t out buying expensive things. Approaching his truck, Kaine couldn’t help but smirk at the sight of it. He had put a lot of money into the thing, but he was proud of what he had done to it. Unlocking it, he opened up the driver’s door and hoisted himself up into the seat. He tossed his duffle bag into the back, so that it landed on the leather seats back there. He then got settled, closing his door, putting the key into the ignition, buckling up, and after he turned the engine over, he adjusted the radio as well. That was another thing about Kaine that he was pretty picky about: his music. He didn’t like techno, and he didn’t like a lot of the new rap stuff that was coming out. He liked his old school rock and roll, like ACDC and stuff like that. Not only that, but he liked it loud. So loud, that when he drove down the streets, people would look over at him. There wasn’t anyone in his life to tell him to turn it down, so why would he? Driving to the fitness center, Kaine parked in his usual spot. He came here as often as he could, because he really did want to stay in this kind of shape. He had a six pack, of course, and he was also quite pleased with how his legs looked, and how big his biceps were. Kaine would never take steroids like some people he knew, he was actually okay with how he looked. But he wanted to keep it this way. Approaching the building, he opened up the door and made his way inside. He nodded to the receptionist, who smiled at him, batting her eyelashes at him. He smirked, and headed over to the men’s locker room. He grabbed his usual locker, did the combination and then he opened it up. He quickly changed out of his street clothes and tucked them away into the duffle bag. Once he was all dressed, he grabbed his iPod, cursing himself for forgetting a water bottle. He grabbed his wallet and took out a few loonies. He then put the duffle bag into the locker and locked it, leaving his cell phone in there as well. He didn’t want to be bothered when he worked out, that was for damn sure. Walking out of the changing room, Kaine made a quick detour over to the vending machine, where he purchased a bottle of expensive water. Shaking his head at the price, Kaine then walked into the room where the treadmills were. He liked to alternate his workout routine, and since he had missed yesterday, today he would just pound it out on a treadmill. Reaching a machine that was free, which meant that there was a lot to choose from, Kaine put the bottle of water into the little plastic holder. He then climbed up onto the treadmill, placing each foot on either side – not on the belt itself. Looking around the room as he unwound his headphones from the iPod, Kaine wondered if it would stay this quiet for his whole workout, or if he would end up having to leave when it got too crowded. Figuring that it could go either way, Kaine put the ear buds in and then got his music playing. Of course the first song to come on was an ACDC song. Grinning, Kaine turned on the machine and got right into it, starting out with a slow jog. He continued at this pace for about ten minutes, and then he sped up to a run for about twenty minutes. And then he slowed for five, and then increased for another fifteen. By now half of the water was drained out of the bottle, and Kaine was sweating. He wasn’t paying attention to anyone around him, although a few more people had entered the room. Slowing down to the slow jog, he cooled himself out for ten minutes. Once he was finished with that, Kaine turned the machine off and took his ear buds out of his ears. He walked over to the bench that was in the room, not forgetting to bring the water bottle with him. Sitting down, Kaine turned off the iPod and looked around the room, catching his breath. notes: |
[/div]i hope i gave you enough to work with. if you want me to change anything, just let me know. (: i just figured that she could run into him once he was off of the treadmill, considering he probably wouldn't talk until then.
