Another night spent at the club. Kaine was starting to make a nasty habit out of this. He had just spent last night at the club, and here he was, planning on going again. It was a Saturday evening, after all, but Kaine was starting to get a little too obsessed with going out and trying to find a one night stand potential. Sure he worked as a bouncer at the club, so he had to be there most nights to work anyways. But Kaine had the night off tonight, and here he was getting ready to go and have a good night. Kaine couldn’t seem to get enough of alcohol right now. Maybe it had to do with the fact that he was really lonely when he was in his apartment. He hated being here, because it was so quite. Kaine had made the plan to go out and buy himself a dog, but he hadn’t had time to just yet. And he was worried about that – what if his dog ended up getting lonely because Kaine was gone for long periods of time? Kaine didn’t want anyone else to suffer – human or animal – because of the lifestyle he had chosen for himself. Kaine hadn’t like commitment, he was terrified of it. And there couldn’t be anything helped for that. Kaine wasn’t ready to put his neck out on the line, and to be honest, he hadn’t really found anyone out there to put his neck out on the line for anyways. Huffing, Kaine got up from the couch and stretched. TV was so boring during the day. Moving upstairs to his bedroom, Kaine changed out of his bumming around clothes and into some clubbing clothes. It wasn’t as if Kaine really dressed up to go out, but he didn’t want to exactly wear jogging pants when he was out in a club setting. Changing into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, Kaine then sprayed himself once with Axe and applied some deodorant. He adjusted the chain that hung around his neck, pulling it out on the outside of his shirt. It didn’t hang down low, but Kaine didn’t like it tucked in against his skin. Walking out of his bedroom, Kaine disappeared downstairs. He went into the kitchen and rummaged around for something to eat. He didn’t feel like making a meal, but he was tired of reheating the same damn thing over and over. Eventually he settled on making an oven pizza. He hadn’t had one of those in quite a while, so he would settle with that for now. Tomorrow night he would probably get something like Chinese takeout or something easy, and along those lines. Kaine used to make full meals for himself, but it was so much work for just one person to eat. It wasn’t the fact that he couldn’t cook – because he could. Taking the frozen pizza out of the cardboard box, Kaine started the oven up – preheating it to the specified temperature on the box. He leaned against the counter, waiting for the oven to heat up. He was impatient, and because of that he soon lost interest and picked up his cell phone from the couch in the living room. He thumbed through the list of his contacts, seeing if there was anyone in there who he could ask to come out with him tonight. There wasn’t anyone’s name that jumped out at him so he put his phone down. At this point, the oven beeped at him telling him that it was ready. Kaine pushed himself off of the counter and slid the frozen, but slightly thawed pizza, into the oven. He closed the door and set the timer, again basing the number off of the pizza box. He then grabbed his cell and walked back into the living room. He had twenty minutes to kill now. Serving through the channels that he had on the satellite, Kaine flipped through the cheap movies. He hated watching cheap movies, he didn’t even know why people put them on the stupid satellite – it was pointless. Finally settling on a movie that he has seen way too many times, Kaine put the remote down and watched mindlessly as the actors moved before him. Kaine was surprised when the oven beeped – twenty minutes had gone by a lot faster than he had thought that it would. Kaine got up from the couch, leaving his phone there and went into the kitchen. He opened up the oven, grabbed a mitt and then shut the oven off. Kaine then took out the pizza – and put it down on a cooling rack, letting it cool down before he cut it. While he waited for it to cool down, he went to the fridge and pulled out a cold beer. He cracked the top off and took a long swing from it, enjoying the taste of the liquid as it rushed over his tongue. He put the beer down on the counter and then sliced up the pizza, dividing it into four large pieces. There was no point in making it look pretty; it was going to be disappearing rather shortly. Pulling off one slice onto a place, Kaine went into the living room and ate that slice while he continued to watch the movie. Kaine finished off that bottle of beer and he was going to get a second one with his second slice, but he wouldn’t be able to drive himself to the club if he did that. It wasn’t as if he would be impaired, but Kaine didn’t want anything to happen to his truck. His pride and joy. Finishing off that second slide, he got one more and then put the fourth slice away in the fridge – for a later date. Once that was done, Kaine turned off the TV and pulled on some boots. He laced them up and then shut off the lights, putting his wallet into one of his back pockets and he grabbed his cell and keys. He was out of the apartment in the next few minutes, heading out to the parking lot where his truck was parked. Kaine got into the big lifted truck and he was soon headed on his way to the club. He parked it in his usual spot and walked in the front way, nodding to coworkers as he made his way to the bar. He took up a stool and waited for the bartender to come around. “The usual.” He said, not bothering with pleasantries. Kaine wasn’t a fan of the bartender who was working right now. He was an asshole, and everyone knew it. After he got his beer, Kaine slid over the correct amount of change and then he cracked the top off. He poured the sweet tasting liquid down and sighed when his lips parted from the bottle. He put the bottle down on the bar, but kept a hand wrapped around it. He turned his light green eyes to survey the room around him. The music was pounding in his ears, and brightly coloured lights swirled around. Being sober in here had an almost dizzying effect on Kaine. He watched as people danced their night away on the dance floor, lifting their hands and shaking their bodies. Kaine shook his head, a smirk on his face as he watched people make complete fools out of themselves. The funny part? Kaine was going to be out on that floor soon enough – making a complete fool out of himself. And he wasn’t even going to regret it – because that was just how Kaine was. notes: |
